Here's what I made tonight! A mainline station with a terminus of a narrow gauge line which transports mainly coal. The coal is transferred onto normal gauge cars. The scenery is inspirited by USA scenery, especially the wester NG lines...Currently it's one baseboard, but I will finish one baseboard after the other as a modular layout. It is purely fictional and it will develop as it comes to my mind... That's a great thing to do. Want a station... just build one... couple of mountaineous hills to cross no problem...
So, here's the pic...

RE: My first Trainz Layout!!!

YA!But they dont turn out as realistic as MSTS. To operate at least...You can simply make a route... takes an hour or so to get a simple grasp of route thingy and your off!

RE: My first Trainz Layout!!!

You are right! There are lacks of reality in Trainz. But I see it as a virtual model railroad simulator, not as a train sim like MSTS. When I want to play trains, I fire up MSTS, when I want to let go my phantasy and build something. It is much less frustrating than with the RE...However, there are some things, MSTS could learn from Trainz...

RE: More Pics from my layout!!!

Well my work as it looks now consists of two baseboards with wide open scenery and minimal tracks. As I mostly play MSTS, I like the idea of going from A to B, not so much the model RR circle idea. This layout will grow as I find time. As soon as it is in a state, when I think some ops are possible, I will share it with the interested. However, it uses quite a bit of custom content, so I don't know, what about 3rd party credits...As long as that, ENJOY!!!

RE: More Pics from my layout!!!

Shouldn't be a problem mate. 3rd party content can be downloaded seperatley. There is no need to bundle it with the route. I am building a Trainz route at this time and it is a point to point fictional route. It is about 110 kilometres long. I have been plugging away on it for about 6 months. RegardsAXE

Now from scratch

Here's what happened to my layout... I figured, the trackwork was a little bit too complex... Also it was incorrect from some operations points of view. So I startet from scratch. Now I use Medvalley's finescale tracks and points and his 3 ft narrow gauge tracks.BTW, can anybody point me to narrow gauge signals, engine facility equipment and point levers? Here are the photos...
FIrst image is the southern entrance to the station with switch to the cargo area. Second image is the northern yard latter. Third image is the coal loading facility. Fourth image the coal tipple for the narrow gauge trains, last image is the engine facility.

You know, The trainz Editor has one thing that i feel the MSTS editor needs. A Grid that is visible in re but is invisible in the game. Would make for placing objects and track easier. Hopefully and option in MSTS2.

Heck *I* would have already had a route out for MSTS if the RE was anything as sweet as Trainz Surveyor!!Of course, on the flip side, i would already have had rolling stock built for Trainz if adding content was as easy as MSTS...Great shots though!! Looks like that is going to be an awesome layout when it's done!** EDITED FOR SPELLING **------ BUZZ ------

<<MSTS editor needs. A Grid that is visible in re but is invisible in the game. >>This option is already in MSTS1! Hitting "w" on the keyboard when in the route editor toggles the wireframe mode.

RE: Now from scratch

Well that track work looks very nice. The fine scale track looks incredable. It makes creating yards every easy. I think I will have to go back to work on my yards
