Westbound crossing the Cuyahoga River approaching Willeyville. The Columbus Road drawbridge behind the train was the site of the 1837 "Bridge War" when Mayor Willey closed the Center Street bridge (next one downriver) in order to divert all traffic away from nearby Ohio City and through his new development. A mob of angry Ohio City merchants and residents marched down Franklin chanting "two bridges or none" and dynamited the west end of the Columbus bridge. Mayor Willey relented and the bridge at Center Street was reopened.

I will leave you with a postcard shot. This is as far as I can back away before the downtown buildings dissappear. As someone previously mentioned, this is one of the few places where the default MSTS water color actually works.Constuction continues...Todd (homer13j)

Outstanding work Todd. This is a very spectacular layout already so I can only imagine how it will look when it's completed. I remember when you posted your request for someone to build your CUT P1's. This was bigger than Jeff and I had built to date, but I'm very pleased with the way the two versions of the locomotive turned out I'm proud to have had a part in making your wish come true and now your layout will be a delight to many railfans and history buffs interested in the Cleveland Union Terminal.Frederick Dreany

RE: P-motors in Cleveland

Todd, that's some great work you've done there. The CUT stuff is great, but I can't wait to see you model some of the yards & industrial areas in town. E 55th St Yard, Literary St Yard, the River basin, Republic Steel, the Ore Docks, etc... Not to mention the Erie, NKP, B&O, NYC, and all the other lines. I've often considered taking a crack at Cleveland myself but then a while back I saw you were doing it so I never started. I'm glad I didn't because you're doing a superb job that would make mine look awful. I'll stick to Akron.Keep up the great work, let's see some more!Jeff

NKP's E.55th Yard is now under construction. Erie's Literary Yard had to be severely abridged to keep down the object counts on that particular tile. Republic Steel south of today's I-490 will be just distant backdrops and I hate to tell you this, but I have no plans to include the PRR Ore Docks since they are more that a mile from the CUT tracks and not visible from the viaduct. To keep frame rates reasonable I am placing no objects north of the Main Avenue bridge.Perhaps I will do the PRR Cleveland Line (ex-C&P from the docks to Conway via Bayard and Yellow Creek) someday.>I'm glad I didn't because you're doing a
>superb job that would make mine look awful.I don't know about that. I've seen some of your trackwork and it's quite impressive. I was born in Akron and look forward to seeing your version of it.Todd

RE: P-motors in Cleveland

If I hadn't found this site, I may have stayed in ignorant bliss, just being happy with MSTS out of the box. But, I came here, and started downloading things. Quickly, I came to the conclusion that I would only download the really great stuff. Even with that, I am going to fill the 120G hard drive I thought I would never fill. Someone needs to make these people quit!!! I'll never get any sleep, or I will have to quit working!!! Just kidding
