RE: Interstate Teaser

The red tint is caused by the screens being taken at sunset. The earth tones are much lighter and less "red" than shown. I still need to tone down the green though. At any rate, barren areas will eventually be covered by grass, trees, or whatever. Cheers!

RE: Interstate Teaser

Actually, no, it's too TAN (looks like sand). If it were more red/orange, it might be prototypical. We have this reddish/orange clay down here that I have yet to see in MSTS. Many of the cuts for the RR are either through rock or this clay rather than "grass." I don't know if there's a way to simulate that or not.

RE: Interstate Teaser

I've been experimenting with using transfers for limestone cuts, but with mixed results. It looks fairly prototypical, but has a tendancy to flash where the transfer meets a hard angle. I may have to take a few of these and apply them to the terrain textures.Any chance you could send me or post a screen of the correct earth tones for the area? The photos I have are old Kodachrome from the 50's, which have their own yellow tint. Cheers!

Nevermind I had a brain fart on my earlier post (very bad day at work). I was thinking it was an add on to an existing route. John

Marc,WOW! If the route is as good as your locomotives, a new standard for routes will be set... Is that a caboose I see on the end ... A professional route in the 50's - way cool !!! Count me in...Thanks,
Scott

RE: Interstate Teaser

Looks great!!! Going up "the hill" into Norton could be a real bitch in bad weather. Southern (aka C&O) 2716 stalled on the hill near Dorchester in May 1982 because of 1.Bad weather, 2.Inexperienced fireman (no, not me), 3.Bad Coal, and 4.Plugged sand lines. Needless to say it took us about 2 hours to go from Apalachia to Norton and we had scheduled 3 round trips that afternoon. Looks like a challenging spot to run a C&O Kanawha.

RE: Interstate Teaser

Thanks! After getting the route DEM'd and trackmarker files placed, I was amazed by the grades used on the route. In several areas - such as Dorchester - the grade is so steep the you would be lucky to get a dozen cars up the hill. Roda's another nasty grade, but thankfully the loads go downhill. Cheers!

RE: Interstate Teaser

It is amazing that they got them down the hill at all. Most of the coal to the southeast from this area went over Saluda and most of the derailments on this grade were attributted to the bad condition of the Interstate coal cars.Kevin Arceneaux
