These shots are in response to a dare from an earlier post i made about having a realistic loco. The railroad im building is only planned to have one reversing wye for use by our steam tourist excursion train. The regular freights will be foreward and reverse moves only. This is all the same locomotive because we only have one diesel. and yes the foreward and reverse lights do work 1-2. engineers views

RE: finally a realistic loco/grunt work

Double up on your coupling values i read about this in the forum and tried it / it works.Mass-- leave alone
WheelRadius --leave alone
InternaTensor-- leave alone

Stiffness ( 1e6N/m 5e6N/m )
Damping ( 1e6N/m 1e6N/m )
Break ( 1.1e7N 1.1e7N )

)last night i ran a train from whtiefish to columbia falls and returned to whitefish long hood forward with no problems
i also set my derail buffer to 800 kn on my equipment
which gives me increased coupling speedmichael

RE: finally a realistic loco/grunt work

Hi Michaellet me add one important thing: It is highly - repeat highly - recommended to change coupler damping values to the correct unit of measurement which in your example would translate into...
Damping ( 1e6N/m/s 1e6N/m/s )
...Note: Make sure to have the damping units read N/m/s instead of the faulty N/m with every engine and wagon file in your virtual car barn, using EngMod to correct all faulty units with your entire stock in one go. The use of the correct unit of measurement resolves 95% of broken coupler cases, though you may also need to increase the break value slightly to get a more realistic (i.e. less finicky) behaviour of the couplers. See tons of posts with regard to this issue of "damping values" in the forum, most dated from around end of 2002, early 2003.Lukas a.k.a Swissie
