Wow, great job! I can't wait to see what Selkirk looks like when I finish it... results like that sure gives me the confidence that I'm not crazy to undertake something so big... (Won't do the yard until after I finish Terre Haute, which I've realized is much more than a simple junction... More info another day.)Hey Jim, are the game cars drawn "to scale"? In other words, on a track that in real life holds 125 50-foot cars, will 125 "average" YD cars fit on that track?-Dave QG 14.32, CSXT Selkirk Sub http://www.davehonan.gcdranet.com/
Well, you can easily compare the cars as drawn with the cars that you see in some of the map images. I tried to match them up as close as possible, so I would say the amout of cars that would fit on a particular siding would be 'about' right.Jim By the way, these are the lengths I have assigned to each car type, based on 'gut feel'. I can change them if you think they can be made better. Name=Switcher, Length=60 Name=Road Power,Length=80 Name=Caboose,Length=50 Name=Passenger Car,Length=80 Name=Well Car,Length=60 Name=Spline Car,Length=65 Name=Autorack,Length=70 Name=Woodchip Car,Length=45 Name=Box Car,Length=50 Name=Reefer,Length=57 Name=Coal Car,Length=45 Name=Tank Car,Length=45 Name=Covered Hopper,Length=55 Name=Open Hopper,Length=50 Name=Gondola,Length=45 Name=Ore Jennie,Length=30 Name=Flat Car,Length=45 Name=Centerbeam Flat Car,Length=70
Jim-Autoracks are about the same length as pax cars (racks are generally 89', pax cars usually range between 85'-90'). I'd also suggesting lengthening the well cars to 65 or 70; consider a 53' container, plus minimum 12' outside of that for trucks & other parts of the car ends. Any chance you can add an "Intermodal Flat Car" to the list? I'm talking about the 89' cars that carry 2x45' and 3x28' trailers or 2x40' and 4x20' containers. These would make intermodal trains stand out from manifests better.-Dave QG 14.32, CSXT Selkirk Sub http://www.davehonan.gcdranet.com/
Wow, that's pretty awesome. I didn't even think to tray something this crazy! How did your framerate hold up? Were you still able to play the game even with all those cars in there? By the way, I'm working on a map statistics screen which will tell you things like how many cars, engines, trains, loaded & empties, locals cars, out-of-state cars are in the loaded map. It will be useful for nuts like you!!! Jim
Near the end the frame rate got pretty bad, but still playable on a 866 system with over 500MB memory and good 3D card. Still a lot better than MSTS. Yeah, I love those stats!
