I would like to suggest that someone start working on maps for these cities. They are kinda like major rail hubs, ya know!Jim

I used to live in St. Louis. The east/west yard that's near Busch Stadium would be good, but actually, most of the traffic is interchanged across the river in East St. Louis, but beware, that is one maze of trackage.Paul Metzger

I'll start looking for a good yard in Chicago to work on as soon as I finsih the Powder River, WY maps. Any suggestions anyone? I have had to visit Chicago on business about 7 times this year but did not have a great deal of time for trainwatching. Alan

RE: Chicago & St. Louis?

Think I got it for the yard to end all yards in Chicago. Clearing Yard, ChicagoCheck out the terraserver image. It has double humpyards - east and west with a CSX intermodal facility on the west end south of the hump. And look at all those industry tracks ... jeez!A good history of it is here. The question is can I fit a map in 500 megs. This would be a great hub for chicago since the whole concept of this yard was to be a central clearinghouse for cars in the Chicago area where all the railroads would use one yard. Sort of a 1:1 scale version of YardDuty. Trying to do a quick test now to see if the whole thing would fit one map ... t'would be a shame to break this baby up. Alan

I am going to start working on the image for BNSF's Corwith Yard in Chicago. Terminal for BNSF and connects with ex-CR going East.I have a track map for Clearing Yard if you need it. I was thinking of doing it, but it was too intimidating.Paul Metzger

RE: Chicago & St. Louis?

Do you think it would be redundant (sp?) to do it also. But there are so many great Chicagoland rail sites to do. If you think it would be worth it ... I'll give it a shot. Email it to me if you don't mind.

Corwith Yard is BNSF's main intermodal terminal in Chicago, especially for East-West traffic. Clearing Yard does indeed interchange a lot of merchandise cars for a variety of RR's in the area, and I think both would be good. Clearing is just so big and intimidating. I'll email you what I have on Clearing.Paul Metzger
