Over the past few days I have been getting a VERY large amount of improperly marked cars. They appear to be coming from a few players that I will leave nameless. It looks like these players are just creating trains and sorting then sending them out. This may seem like a great way to add traffic, but for a player who prefers not to use local delivery this is becoming a hassle. I am getting solid blocks of cars (Autoracks, Boxcars, Flats, etc...) for La Cygne, Asbury, and such which are powerplants. If you take the time to look the accept coal and possible some heavyduty flats. Basically it seems that out of every transfer I am getting around 50% of the traffic is incorrectly marked.I refuse to force people to use YD a certain way since it is a community game (which I don't control), but am more or less trying to see if this is becoming a problem for anybody else?Thanks...and with any luck these players will keep creating TONS of traffic....just the right way.Matt

The problem is that when "new trains" are created, or even when cars are reloaded, the game does not always send them to appropriate locations. It allows or creates "bad" destinations.I would suggest all destinations be checked for appropriateness before sending cars out. I realize this might be a hassle for some, but would make things a whole lot nicer for those of us who prefer not to use local delivery that much.Paul MetzgerCP Rail System (D&H)

RE: Incorrect Car Destinations

I wouldn't even go so far as to say that all destinations should be checked, but if players would stopping creating trains and instead maybe create a train of empty cars and load them on the map then send them out.I know the computer sometimes loads cars wrong, but when you load them yourself odds are they will be headed in the right direction.Matt

RE: Incorrect Car Destinations

I have been thinking for awhile of doing a huge spreadsheet of the requirements of all yards. Maybe now is the time to do it Could you all send me a list of your yards & what they load/unload. This will be a large task so please don't expect miracles. Thanks.

RE: Incorrect Car Destinations

I think there are a few issues here which the YD Community needs to discuss.1. The information available via the Map List Window "View/Map List" is taken from the u/l data in the ini files and should be viewed as official. Any inaccuracies can be addressed and corrected - as was done recently by Steve (GNFan) for yards with Covered Hoppers.I know Satellite yards are not explicitely listed, however some Parent Yards have hidden sidings set up which reflect the u/l properties of their Satellites and hence the listings appear under their names (You cannot normally set a destination to a Satellite Yard).2. I am sure many yards have been privately modified by users to u/l additional car types. These do not show up in the Map List Window. Should they be made "Official" i.e. included in the ini files and/or should they be included in Dave's Spreadsheet?3. Local Delivery - originally used to simulate industry not shown on the map. Again this will not show on the Map List. Similar to #2 but perhaps a more deserving case.3a. My own view with Industry not shown on the map is - either revise the map to show it or add a new map if extending the original is not practicable. Perhaps Paul could look at this scenario in his Map Project Approvals? So really the u/l information for the most part is currently available, the problem is getting people to use it. The ideal solution would be have the code only assign destinations based upon the u/l data in the ini files, but .....However both the u/l information and the mechanism to reassign destinations (at point of load/unload) are currently available.Remember it takes but 2 minutes thought to assign appropriate car destinations, but 2 minutes is such a long time and thinking is such hard work.Jim (Dragon)

RE: Incorrect Car Destinations

Dave,You're insane. Seek professional help. Oh, BTW, you can have the locomotive roster, too...lol. (jk)I have thought for some time about writing a VB program that would validate the destination of cars Vs where they're going, and give the user a list of those that are "invalid" and offer a list of "proper" destinations to select from.Your spreadsheet would be perfect for a reference for this type of software tool. But, I need time to work on something like that, and time is precious these days....sigh.CSX739

RE: Incorrect Car Destinations
