Anyone who has a map in progress and has talked to Paul about which three maps they want to be reviewed, please send the .jpg and .yrd files to me. I most likely have them already if they are older projects, but I want to make sure that I have the newest up-to-date versions. I will be out of town beginning New Years Day (Florida and Colorado), so I won't be able to do anything with them until I get back on the 10th, but please send them anyway.Regarding the revised map making process, including why the three map limit, I'll be making a post outlining that tomorrow. RE: Message to Mapmakers

YDer's,
I thought I should provide some information here on where maps are needed such that the Map Designers and The Map Department can adjust their priorities accordingly. NY, None available, 4-6 required
NJ, None available, 4-6 required
IN, 1 available, 4-6 required
NC, None available, 4-6 required
GA, none available, none required
IL, none available, none required
KS, 4 available, none required
WA, none available, 4-6 required
CA, 4 (almost) available, none requiredMaps Available are Approved & all files with me ready for posting.
The 4 (almost) in the CA region are in final review. You may have noticed that the CA ini file is currently the largest, however these 4 maps are a 4 into 1 combo + 3 replacements, so should take minimal additional space in all the ini files.Where "None required" is listed - this means no further postings until at least some of the short fall in the other regions is addressed. I'm sure you are all aware of the necessary reasons for this. Thanks,
JIm (Dragon)

Well, now let's see:WA- 2 in process, with 4 more right behind (from Mark)
NC-3 in process
IN-2 in process or finished, with 3 more planned (all from you, Jim)
NJ-5 in process (3 from Corey)
NY-1 in processWhat exactly does it take for you to accept that "...the shortfall in the other regions is (being) addressed."?Paul MetzgerCP Rail System (D&H)

RE: Message to Mapmakers

Excellent Paul - it's good to see people looking at the Big Picture at last - although when I spoke with Corey a few weeks ago he was working on only one map.A few more maps in NY would help. Although some of the numbers quoted infringe the new 3 maps per person rule but let's not worry about that. Can you now get projected finish dates together then please. Bear in mind because of the complexities map postings will be by INI so some thought to deliver 3-4 per ini would be great.Mark - get those maps approved asap and let me have them.Jim

In regards to the need for maps in the NY region, here are 6 suggested projects that I would encourage map designers to consider working on:Mattawamkeag, ME (interchange yard)
Millinocket, ME (yard)
E. Millinocket, ME (paper plant)
Rouses Point, NY (interchange yard)
Ayer Auto Facility, MA
Bow Power Plant, NHThese are all listed in the Maps list under Suggested projects or Suggested beginners projects. I can supply more info if anyone is interested in working on these projects. Thanks,Paul MetzgerCP Rail System (D&H)

RE: Message to Mapmakers

I have seen a few references to a revised mapmaking process. However, it appears this was maybe done in chat because neither this forum or the yahoo one has a topic on it or a topic pointing to any document explaining it. I was just curious as to what the process is currently?
thanks
matt
