Q :"...I have been getting the error I think you are speaking of, would it be the "this exit is ocuppied, try another exit or move the train off." I was getting that problem frequently..."A: This is one of those 'undocumented' things, but yes, after creating an EXIT, you need to open another map and then re-open the map for the exits to truly take effect. Maybe this should be improved...
Q: "...Also make sure that when you have created a map, and are testing it with a train, that you REMOVE the train before you create more trackwork, I had that problem and I had to start from the beginning with the trackwork."A: It is not absolutely neccessary to remove trains before continuing with the trackwork, but you should not modify the tracks that a train is occupying. This will cause problems because a car will think it is on a track that no longer exists. I'm sorry to hear that you started the trackwork from scratch, but this wasn't neccesary either. Next time this happens, simply delete the .crs file for the custom map (e.g. 9002.crs in the Construction folder.) and it will load without problems. This file stores all the cars in a map.Q: "...As for drawing (crossovers), here is how I go about them. We all know that they should look like this..."A: This is not the prefered way to draw crossovers. It is actually more difficult! To see what a proper crossover looks like, visit the Norwalk Yard map or the Northern Maine Juncion map. These both have crossovers which have been done properly. Note that the aspect is green when normal, and red when the crossovers are set. To create a proper crossover, you must be proficient at using the arrow keys to adjust endpoints. Maybe I should post a tutorial on how to draw that various track elements...Jim

Jim,I think a tutorial for drawing various track elements would be a great asset. I've tried to play around with it, looking at one of the current maps and reading the introduction, but I still can't make it work. It's not as intuitive as you might think.Paul Metzger
