There are two common reasons for problems with logging in and posting messages. The first is that you are running a firewall that prevents your messages from being sent to the server. I downloaded YD & executed the file. When I tried to open the program it gives me an error: 4EAE, & it's not connecting to the server. When I click on options I get a 'run-time error '9'', and then the program shuts down. Can someone please help???!!! I'm running Win XP with a cable modem. Thanks
Usually this problem arises when you have the XP firewall running. Yard Duty cannot connect to the FTP server. If you go into Start – Control Panel, and click on Network Connections, choose your cable modem connection by right clicking on it. Then select Properties and choose the advanced tab. Uncheck the option to "Internet Connection Firewall" and then reboot your PC. You should then be able to run Yard Duty without any problems. If you're concerned about your computer not having any firewall this way, I suggest looking at Zone Alarm. It comes in a free version and is configurable to run Yard Duty and protect your PC as well. It's at http://www.zonelabs.comGood Luck!
Thanks for the response! I tried what you suggested, but still no luck. I'm still getting the same error messages & not able to connect to the server. Any other suggestions... Thanks again for the help!
I had the same exact problem, and the steps listed are what fixed me up. Did you reboot after turning off your firewall? I don't know what else you could try at this point. Hopefully we'll get some more words of wisdom from the other Yard Duty regulars.
are you using normal US settings for time, date and numbers?Does the program load at all or crash when starting. It should load and say it couldn´t detect an internet connection.
i'll check the time/date settings. it does load & says it can't detect an internet connection. it does shut down after i get the errors indicated earlier.time setting is pacific time us & canada)tijuana
