Yardmasters,Concurrent with the change in 1.2.40 to no longer allow satellite maps to assign random sidings to cars, a new program is being initiated to assign "dummy" sidings to parent maps. I'll be working on this through the week, and anticipate rollout beginning Friday. The use of the "dummy" sidings will allow cars arriving at a parent map to have an equal chance of being assigned to a siding on the parent map or one on a satellite. Each dummy siding will load/unload the identical car types as the actual siding on the satellite map, and will share the siding number carried by the satellite. The dummies will be hidden tracks on the edges of parent maps, so that they will not be visible during normal gameplay. The most visible change of this program will be that SIDING NUMBERS ON SATELLITE MAPS WILL MOST LIKELY CHANGE. It is unlikely that siding numbers on parent maps will change, although sidings without numbers will have them assigned. It is highly recommended that all cars destined for delivery on existing satellite maps, as outlined below, be delivered before Friday to avoid the possibility that the car could be rendered undeliverable (and thus have to be deleted). The following PARENT maps, and ALL of their satellites, will be affected:
Butte St., Fresno, Guadalupe, Los Nietos, Watson, Uceta, Forrestville, Krannert, Barr, Haley, Bangor, Derby, Northern Maine Jct., Manville, Binghamton, Selkirk, South Schenectady, Eugene, Taylor, Etowah, Acca, and Sheridan. If you unfortunately find yourself with undeliverable cars, don't worry about it and simply delete them. I doubt any of us keep track of how many cars we attach email addresses to, and the loss of a few dozen cars won't be a major loss for the system. Two notes:
- Intermodal tracks do NOT receive siding numbers due to the unit-train nature of their operations.
- In the future, all designers submitting satellites of existing parent yards will be required to submit a revised version of the parent yard that includes dummy sidings reflecting the new satellite.Thank you for cooperating with us as we change over to this revised method of operation.-Dave
