Monster trains – image 1

Sparked by Jim's "favorite paths" below, what are the largest trains you've handled?I just put together a small train of North Jersey cars bound for Selkirk to be classified:Engines: 8 (35,200 hp, 1600t)
Loads: 94 (8884t)
Empties: 115 (3578t)
Totals: 209 cars, 14062t, 2.5hp/tI don't think this thing will fit in Selkirk's Receiving Yard!-Dave

RE: Monster trains

WOW, That's alot of trains, but like you said....What do you do if your yard can't handle it. The NMJ can store about 300-400 cars. The most I ever had in that yard is about 100-150 and it's alot of work. Jim, What happened to the message that told you how many cars were in the yard that you were in?Andrew

RE: Monster trains

The message you're asking about is in Map/Loaded Map/Statistics.I've kept away from monster trains because the yards I deal with don't have the room for long trains. My biggest recently was a 120 car train out of Ayer heading up to Maine. It had 5 engines, 89 Loads, 31 empties for a total of 11899T. It was basically a 118 car train from Dave Honan that had a 20 some car set-off & pick-up at Ayer.As far as cars in a yard, I have 449 in Port of Albany, and there were 497 in Selkirk when I handed it back to Dave Honan recently. E. Bingo has 165, Taylor has 82, and Pittston has 42, though all of them have some room for more.

RE: Monster trains

I once handled a 160 some car train at Debutts, don't know the stats on it. As far as cars in the yard go, I had about 1600 cars in Debutts when I came back online after being unable to run the program for a while. That was depressing!Corey

RE: Monster trains

1600 cars in any yard would be very depressing. No wonder it took you a while to get things moving again.Paul Metzger
