Since we are on the subject of cars, would it be possible to add a few more types? Here in the southeast pulpwood racks and log cars are very common running back and forth to paper and lumber mills.
Gotta make some industry maps to utilize the cars, Jim! And how about providing a photo of a pulpwood rack? I've never heard of that. The King might like those suggestions, considering all the hoopla ongoing in SoCal recently about the "log trains."Jim, what about a heavy-duty flatcar? One of the maps I was considering doing was General Electric in Schenectady, NY, which produces generators & turbines for power plants. These high-wides frequently travel to the Port of Albany for export, and we could re-equip Cayuga every few weeks. Something such as this depressed-center car would be typical, with a length identical to the IM Flatcar: http://www.ttx.com/ttxdb/rhlm.asp-Dave Conrail Albany Division ...striving for "Continuous Quality Improvement" http://gcdranet.homelinux.com/davehonan/Yard Duty Superintendent of Maps http://members.trainorders.com/dwhonan/yd/projects.html
Special needs (departmental) wagons may be of use on certain maps in the future but would they be of any practical use to the majority of users?Maybe tracklaying p-way stock may be of more value.
'Pulpwood Rack' is a Bulkhead flatcar, I think. Might add that one. In general, I have avoided 'specialty' cars, because I want the random generator to come up with 'reasonable' trains & destinations.Jim

I think this would be a good addition. I like the idea of specialty cars as long as they are not over used. Spike
Not a bad idea, but it will make delivery more difficult and also doesn't sound completely prototypical. I'm afraid someone might take a loaded car to it's destination, but then not have a reapair facility nearby, and then get frustrated. Jim
