Accepting Application: Superintendent of Home Yards – image 1

Guys, Due to strong public demand and the fact that you guys are playing as 'Yardmasters' in certain maps, I have decided to add a feature to YD that will work something like this:When you enter a yard, the list of members who consider the map their 'Home Yard' will briefly display in the map window (like the chat text). This will make it easier to remember who to post trains to. So, for example, when you enter Debutts you will see 'LongHoodForward, NSSpike' As you can imagine, this means maintaing a list of members in the YDSystem.ini file. Therefore, I am developing a new job position for a dedicated YD member. This person will be in charge of processing and and presenting additions/changes/updates to me (in a standard format) so that I can quickly make changes to the system file. If you are interested in taking on this role, please let me know.Jim

I can give that a go. The functionality sounds interesting.

YDers,I've decided to accept Paul Metzger's application for the postion of Superintendent of Home Yards. The pay sucks, but sometimes work is it's own reward. Please coordinate any changes to your Home Yard Status through him. He will forward the info to me in the form of a text file containing all yards and their associated members. As a matter of procedure, Home Yard changes will be posted only once per week (on the weekend), in order to keep the administration required for this feature (on my part) low.Jim

Just to let everyone know, there can be more than one person listed for a particular yard, and each person can be listed under more than one yard.If you're working a yard and would like to be listed as one of the yardmasters in the initial list, please let me know by tomorrow. As Jim stated, this list will be updated weekly, so if there are any changes or corrections, send me an email, and it will be updated. My goal is to have a yardmaster in every yard. If you are interested in taking on one that is "vacant", let me know.
