Can you make fictional routes using topo maps?

RE: Fictional route?

I guess it is possible, but why? We are trying to make maps based on the actual rail lines currently in use (or at least recently in use). Not sure what you're asking. Please explain.

Well, since Yard Duty is really the only train game that has the potential to simulate the entire North American rail system, I think it is best to focus on real routes and leave the 'fictional routes' to every other train sim.Jim

Yard Duty seems like a fun game, so iw as wodnering if i could make a little fictional route to see how much fun that could be! lol....Plus, i may also be interested in making some of the Div. 11 Member's layouts.

RE: Fictional route?

Yard Duty uses Terraserver images as the base for every map in the game...so I don't think using a topo map would be acceptable. Not to mention that this is a 'national freight simulation'...meaning it is designed to simulate real world yards, routes, and operations. Nothing fictional about it. I think running your buddies' layouts for real would be more intersting than running them digitally . The more members the better! Just make sure they know this is a prototypical simulation and not a free-for-all like MSTS can be. Thanks for putting in some good words for us! Corey Vernier
