Can you play this game without the online part or FTP? I just want to shunt and drive trains around a yard wihtout sending them over the net.

Yes and no. It is possible to run the simulation offline, but you lose certain features, among which is the ability to create trains. So unless you already have trains and cars in your "system" (created by being online at some point), you wouldn't have anything to run.Paul
