Hi Guys,I was to update the trackwork for Allentown(goes for any yard) to handle all of the new connections. However, doesn't downloading a new trackwork file from the server make you lose the cars that you have in the yard?Chris Lee Train Artisan
I thought the same thing Chris, that trains would be deleted. But I updated a yard the other day that only had a few cars and didn't bother to remove them. The track updated fine and the cars were still there. If I am not mistaken, I think it is only a problem if a car is on a line that is moved or edited. I may be wrong here though. Alan
No. Downloading a new .yrd file does not automatically make a .crs file obselete. There is a good possiblilty the .crs file (which contains all cars in the yard and their position) will still work if the changes to the map were minor, for instance containing only changes to the labels or exit numbers. The problem occurs when an car is 'on' a line that no longer exists in the new .yrd file. You can always at least try to use the new .yrd file without removing the cars from the yard to see if it works. But be sure to 'make backups' when it prompts you to do so. If the new map won't load the cars into it, you should manually restore the backup files and then remove the cars. Or you could simply delete the .crs, if you don't mind losing the cars which were in the map. Jim
