Q:
It occurs to me that as more maps get developed, getting charged $300 to move between maps could get to be very excessive. Consider a scenario where I have a Selkirk-Calumet train and utilizing only those maps currently on-line and that I have in development:Selkirk-Berea: -$300
Berea-Greenwich: -$300
Greenwich-Fostoria: -$300
Fostoria-Dolton: -$300
Dolton-Barr: -$300
Upload to server for Team NS: +$1000Thus, I've spent $1500 to move the train to its connection, yet I'll only receive $1000 for delivering it! Abusing a hackneyed expression, "That's a heck of a way to run a railroad." I suppose this could be offset by making local deliveries, but still, the point of railroads operating a service is to make a profit -- and where's the profit if I lose $500 to deliver to a "competitor?" (Yes, I know, we're all one big team here, but it's human nature to want to compete!) So, in due course, you may wish to consider lowering the
ride-between-maps charge.Dave HonanA:
Yea, the prices will change over time, based on feedback from people (like you) who actually care about the financial system. I may re-think the download & upload costs. I'm not sure they have a purpose anymore. I originally set the prices to encourage people to upload more than downloading, but it seems like everyone uploads plenty.Jim

RE: Travel to next map cost.

I admit that I didn't like the idea of the money system when first getting back into the new build of YD. However after giving it a try I find that the system doesn't even effect my gameplay the slightest. I had money problems at the beginning and was even worried about making payroll(labor for cars, switches, travel) however after delivering a few trainst the hardway I was sitting pretty at 300K and wasn't worring anymore. Yeah, I remember telling you it was something you could ignore. But here's another challenge for you Chris. Turn the mainline trains on and set it to 5 minutes and see how long that $300K lasts! Jim

Hi..
I think a better system would be, it you go from one map to the next one it should only cost (say) $50, so if you where to travel over a few maps then it would cost more (2 map $50.00, 3 maps $100.00, 4 maps $150.00 and so on), then if the train is posted to the server, you should get back you money and then say 20% more.I know this mite be hard to do but it would make it very intresting.Stuart..
