I'm trying to figure out whether to give my trains the prefix L for local or R for roadswitcher. I can't quite decide between the two, I think they are just about the same thing? Anyone have any ideas?Chris Lee Train Artisan
Go the CSX way: Prefix it with a B, C, D, J... From your choices, I prefer L. If I had my druthers, I'd take the old Conrail symbols, such at WASE-19 (Wayfrieght, Albany Division, Selkirk, #19).Brings up another ponderance... since most of these sat maps seem to be from the mid-late '90s, does that mean that CR still exists, CNICWC isn't a tongue-twister, and the Great Black Catfish Plague hasn't wiped out half the EMD population of the east? -Dave QG 14.32, CSXT Selkirk Sub http://www.davehonan.gcdranet.com/
Here's how BNSF usually does it:L-Local (usually point to point)i.e. LSCA1911 (Watson-Kaiser loaded slab train) vs. LSCA1931 (Kaiser empty slab train)R- Road Switcher (out and back) i.e. RSCA008 (La Mirada Local) and RSCA009 (Rivera Local)Paul Metzger NS Team Northern Region
