Name: Gulf Mobile and Ohio (Eastern and Western Divisions)Version: 0.1Released: 4/10/03Description: The GM&O Route retraces the original Chicago and Alton Railroad route from Chicago to St. Louis and Kansas City. The route will eventually encompass some 700 miles of trackage and is being released in stages. The initial beta release (v0.1) covers the immediate area around Springfield, Illinois, which has been painfully recreated in exquisite and accurate detail by Paul Fowler (founder of Team GM&O). This portion of the line consists of approximately 15 miles of track from Sherman, though Springfield, past Iles Tower (Wabash/NW/NS crossing), under the Illinois Terminal, and south out of town on the old Main Line.At Iles Tower, the routes first expansion runs WSW toward Murrayville, Illinois where it joins the Jack Line (featured in Model Railroader "MR Rides a Doodlebug", April 1960) and continues south to Roodhouse, Illinois. At Roodhouse the line turns west toward the Mississippi River and Kansas City and also splits off south toward Godfrey, Illinois, and rejoining the Main Line. The Jack Line extends north from Murrayville into Jacksonville and will eventually run on to Bloomington.
Install Method: The GM&O is currently delivered in 15 standard zip files with internal directories.
