• Name of Route: Illinois Central
• Version and Release Date: v1.0 10/09/02
• Description: The rail line modeled runs from Clinton, IL south to Pana, IL. Also included is the line from DuQuoin to Anna Il. The track is as it was in the late 70's just before the IC began selling off some of its branch lines. The major freight hauled is grain although many other industries such as Caterpillar use the IC to send goods. For, Train Simulator we have included a portion of the Old Mainline started in 1851. The IC was the first land grant railroad and at one point, the longest railroad in the US. Abraham Lincoln was a lawyer for the IC before becoming President of the US. A train wreck became famous with a song about it's engineer, Casey Jones. This line connected at Mattoon and Champaign where the line ran between Chicago and New Orleans. By the late 70's passenger service on the IC was gone in this area.
