"Silverton Branch, D&RGW"Route Name: Silverton Branch, D&RGWVersion: 1.0, November 2, 2003Description: A 3-foot narrow gauge railroad, the route of the D&RGW through the Animas River valley and canyon in southwestern Colorado. About 45 miles between the towns of Durango and Silverton. This portion of the D&RGW has been preserved and is now the route of the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.Installation Method: Four (4) spanned zip files of about 18.5 MB each, prepared with Route-Riter Version 4.2.30. Un-zip all four into a temporary folder, so that the folder contents are: Silver10.z01
Silver10.z02
Silver10.z03
Silver10.zipExtracting With WinZip: Use Version 8.1 or later. Select "Silver10.zip" then un-zip into your MSTS \Routes folder (the other three files, "Silver10.z01", "Silver10.z02", and "Silver10.z03" are automatically handled if present in the same location as "Silver10.zip"). Extracting With Route-Riter: Use Version 4.2.36 or later. Use the MyZipp option under General Utils, tick the Fullpath option, then choose Open Archive in the files menu and select "Silver10.zip" - This will then list all the files in the grid. Then from the Extract menu, select Extract All and choose your MSTS \Routes folder as the destination.Extracting With Winrar: Reported to be successful with Winrar 6.10 or later, although I have not tried it.With any of these methods, after un-zipping is complete, run the "Installme.bat". Un-zip into your "\Train Simulator" folder, assuring that you have "Use folder names" checked.Non-Default Consists or Rolling Stock Required in Activities: Locomotive and Tender "K-36 Locomotive No. 487" by Julian Abrams (k36_487.zip), in the file library at www.train-sim.com. The remainder of the rolling stock required is found in "Train 461.zip" in the \Silverton route folder; un-zip into your "\TRAINSET" folder, assuring that you have "Use folder names" checked.Add-In Track Sets: Xtracks required, compatible with v3.2 or laterTsection.dat file used: Standardized Tsection.dat, release 00008 or laterPayware or Freeware: FreewareKnown Problems: The "Uncoupling Bug" is present on long, slow trips; see the coupler section in the "*.wag" files in "Train 461.zip" for recommendations. Wide stock with a bounding box wider than about +/- 1.3 meters will collide in double-tracked curved sidings; if the bounding box width is reduced, the impact is only visual.Where it can be downloaded: www.train-sim.comAuthor: Charlie Leveritt
