I posted this first on the Route Design forum, then realized I should have posted it here:I'm starting to add trolley trackage to my layout and had hoped to be able to use tram track sections from the latest version of the standardized tsection.dat that comes with XTracks. However, I find that many of the tram track sections in the list do not have corresponding .s files. Also, there are designations like "B" and "BB" on some of the tram sections that are not explained. Can someone point me to an explanation of the tram track sections? Or at least give be a brief on what I am looking at in the Track Sections list? Why are the .s files missing and where do I find them? Or is there a better source of track sections? Most of the trolley lines will actually use standard T track sections, because they are inter-urban lines, but there are about 10 miles of track that run in city streets. In short, HELP!Charlie

RE: XTracks Tram Track Sections

You have to download two files from this site http://www.msts-strabafanpage.de/phpkit/include.php?path=start.phpIt's entirely in German. You have to register to download. The process isn't much different than registering for any other forum. I used a translator that you can find with a google search.Once you register, the two files are "Tram Tracks 1.1-Streckenbau" and "Tram Tracks Version 1.1".It's good stuff for trolleys but you have to be careful using the two track sections. The track separation is very close and many trams won't run on them without colliding. Trams that will run on the double tracks are available for download on the same site. A lot of these trams are put out by "Railroad Ralf". One that I downloaded has doors that open when you press the "P" key.Hope this helps.

RE: XTracks Tram Track Sections

Great...thanks!Fortunately, somewhere back in my youth I studied German. After I knock the rust off the brain cells, I should be able to work out the registration process, etc. Thanks also for the tip on the double tracks...probably set up for those incredibly narrow European trolley cars. I only have one two-mile stretch of parallel tracks and they were laid by two separate companies (Newport Street Railway first, then later the Newport and Providence), so were on opposite sides of the street, more or less. Doors that open, wow! 8)Charlie
