Just wanted to drop a note that I just finished uploading a New Subway Route for the file library. The file name is NYSUBWAY.zip once it's made available for download. It's a freelance route employing the elements of New York City's Interborough Rapid Transit Broadway and Lexington Avenue lines. There isn't much out there in MSTS on Subway routes and nothing I could find with a New York flavor which is why I did it. I hope to modify it in the future to make it more prototypical of IRT subway construction once a colleague of mine learns more about object design. For now it's a good start. I'd like to thank the Chicago Elevated and the U79 routes for their permission to use and repaint objects from their routes. I've attached a screenshot of the elevated portion of the route which is included with the route's release documentation.
Thanks for the compliment.Any of the other Island Electric stock would look good. Look at the screenshot forum. There are some shots taken using a redbird. These are the files: irt_lo-v.zip, irt_r22.zip (green), irt_r22s.zip (silver/blue), irt_r29.zip (red), irt_r36.zip (red). You may have to create a six car consist depending upon which one you use. One thing to remember with any of these. When you create a consist, reverse the orientation of every other car. There is no current operating IRT equipment available at train-sim based on my search of the file library. There is more modern stock available that isn't used in New York but still looks good on the route. The detail is not as sharp on these as with the Island Electric stock but they still look good to me. Try these from the file library.cer 2600.zip is for the Chicago Elevated and comes with 2, 4, 6 and 8 car consist files. When I operate the 6 car, the top speed is 36mph. That's fine for me. But I downloaded it some time ago. It may have been modified since then.ret 5300.zip is a Dutch model that comes with a 4 and 8 car consist file. The 4 car fits well on the route. This model runs with a cab view in reverse when you press the "5" key so you don't have to turn the train around when you reach the end of the line. Good if you're exploring. Just remember when your running it in reverse for switching. Thanks again for your interest.
Thanks for a superb route Fred. The Island Electric cars really needed a good NY route to run on and now we've got one, complete with usable framerates .Here are a couple of screenshots of some R22s and R36s on one of the elevated sections.(see the screenshot forum for some more of my screen shots)Alan www.blackpooltrams.com
Thanks much for your comments. Great Screenshots. I will be working on some new activities in the next few days with the redbirds and the silver models. Am also dreaming up a work/maintenance train activity.
Thanks for the compliment. I believe you are the author of the activity pack that was uploaded today. I haven't downloaded it yet. Am looking forward to trying it out. I'm also working on some additional activties and I don't want to create conflicting files. Can you contact me via e-mail please. Thanks
