Am currently building my first serious route. Its a fantasy trolley network connecting small towns in northern New Jersey. Would like to know how to obtain "Tram Tracks" to see how it expands on what xtracks provides and whether I can integrate it with my route. I've done quite a bit of searching and can't find it anywhere.By the way, everything I've learned about route building has been from this forum and related links. A great site for a modelling enthusiast. Will eventually post some screenshots. Thanks for any help.

Mike
Any way of getting a look at these without logging in.
I have a limited knowledge of the language but it looks like there is a builder version and a user version.
Can't understand enough from the site to work out the joining/download process.
Cheers

Hi Neville, If you go to thetrain.de & search for TramTracks, there is a read me, in German, which you can use a translator on.BTW:registration is easy. Benutzername, means nickname, such as yours in our forum. The second space will be your E-mail addy. They will E-mail you a password which you can change once you login. When you first click on the register button you will see a long page in German. This is an agreement similar to ours. Scroll to bottom of the page & click on the left button. this means you accept the terms.

RE: TramTracks

I managed to register and download the file or at least I think it is the right file. There are no instructions and I don't understand enough German to install it. There may be directions on the web site. It consists of ace files only which may replace existing track texture files. I'm guessing what you do is install these files in the global texture folder and save the existing ones in the folder. Anyone understand German well enough to verify this or correct me. I don't have a translator.

RE: TramTracks

Fred,> Anyone understand German well enough to verify this or correct me...coming to the rescue... Looks like you downloaded the additional builders pack which contains nothing but textures a route builder needs to drop in the textures folder of the route he is going to distribute ("TramTracks 1.1-Streckenbau"). So, no, they don't go into the global/textures folder, and only if you plan on building a new route using these tracks they're one of two parts of what you need. What you need to download in order to run a route which uses these tracks is the file with the shapes ("Tram Tracks Version 1.1"), and place the .s and .sd files into the global folder. The tracks are compatible with the standardized global/tsection.dat. For readers downloading it in the future, make sure not to overwrite a more current version. Using WordPad to open it, verify that before installing, the tsection.dat file that comes with the shapes starts with the text:"_INFO(Build 00024)_Skip (This modification to the \global\tsection.dat file is provided as a public service in the attempt
to provide compatibility between the works of many different track section developers. (...)"If the build number is lower than the one of the global/tsection.dat you currently have on your computer, leave yours in, don't use the older build in order to avoid problems on other routes.Lukas a.k.a Swissie

RE: TramTracks

Got the right file along with the texture files I got earlier. I was confused by how small the download file was for the shapes. It was only about 500KB. Works fine on a route I have set up for testing. Wish I had it before I ran most of my track. Will use it on a future route. Note that it advises use of Horace on existing routes with dynamic track. I haven't used Horace yet. Couldn't find anything in the xtracks folder on how to use it. Another utility I have to learn how to use. Thanks for all your help. I probably would have thrown in the towel if I didn't get a response.

RE: TramTracks

You're welcome! Btw: Info on Horace is available within the builders pack for xtracks. But before digging that out, may I point you to the fact that Okrasa Ghia has recently released a newer, faster, better version of Horace, along with two other helpful tools, Archibald & Zipper. Look for tk_utils.zip in the file library, and the read-me files in there.Lukas a.k.a Swissie
