I was wondering if anyone else was trying to figure if it is possible to make San Franciso cable cars in MSTS. They are not electric cars but how would you get them to work in the sim?
You could just make a hilly route, and as for the actual cable cars, just make them electric, only with no pantograph, just adjusted power settings. I've wondered about the same thing, but have not experimented with the ENG files. Decending at the hill at a constant speed is going to be difficult. If modifying the ENG file can't get a car up the hill - and more importantly down the hill safely, it might be necessary to adjust the route's gravity setting. That might simplify the task. The lack of double ended cabs or working turntables in MSTS also presents a problem.Ron http://www.railwaystation.com
If you set the overhead height to 0.0, or just above, it gives you a simulation of the cable slot.If you are building a car, presumably with a Cabview, you could also make a Passenger view which looks the same as the Cabview for use when running in reverse.Eric in UK
