RE: Pacific Electric PCC Plans

I can't recall ever having seen any published. However, if you can find a copy of the RMC Traction Handbook (I think that's what it was called) there are plans for one of the early air-electric PCCs. Because the whole range of PCCs were so heavily standardised, it is possible to cut and paste these into a set of drawings that would be close enough as makes no difference.I have that two-volume set that was done on PCCs maybe twenty years ago. IIRC there there are enough data in there to cross check any drawings you come up with. E-mail or PM me when you're ready to tackle this... -Phil

RE: Pacific Electric PCC Plans

That's what I was afraid of. I do have plans for a BCER PCC, and using your suggestion, I bet I could come up with a set of drawings close enough. Thanks, Phil, I'll take you up on this. What made me want to tackle the PE PCCs is I purchased the book, PE Album of Cars, which has awesome photos of theses "5000's" inside and out, and, well, I got bitten pretty bad. It will be some time, tho, before I get started, but I thought I'd begin gathering the data now.Timtimmuir@wcn.net

RE: Pacific Electric PCC Plans

PE's PCCs were really fine examples of what could be done with a sound basic design. This really wasn't what the Committee had in mind when they started, yet the result was a very serviceable fleet of vehicles that never were given the chance to fully show what they could do. It's a pity that at least one of them couldn't have been repatriated for preservation. -Phil

RE: Pacific Electric PCC Plans

PE PCC's were double-ended. Matt's PCC models are fine, but single-ended. I also want more interior detail, and PE-specific detail, and the only way to that end is to build it myself. The only answer!Timtimmuir@wcn.net

Tim, Sadly I report that just the publication you were looking for, has been withdrawn from the ERHA Library. Maybe not withdrawn as out of stock. It is no longer listed. My Computer specs are in my profile
