The Hollywood fleet is growing. There are now 2 versions of the 600-class, the 637 and the 653. The 637 has it's front coupler swung to the right and locked for safety. The 653's front coupler is centered for MU-ing with the 637, or 5099. The 5099 represents one of the 1949 rebuilds of cars 600-731 to one-man operation.( Cars 732-759 remained the same as the earlier 637 and 653 representations)Another one joins the parade. The Portland Traction version is up to date now, too. We're up to the point of designing the cabviews now. I experimented with animating the doors, but that doesn't work in the passenger view correctly, and that view is one of the biggest "selling points" of these cars, so I abandoned that track. Also, there will be the typical 19.5 foot trolley wire and "High-wire" (NEC) versions of all of the above.Timtimmuir@wcn.net

Tim, These models are fantastic. BTW the problem of animating the doors from passenger view has been solved, with the release of the Duwag-5 trams. Not only the doors but the wipers are animated from the passenger view. Check out these photos. A nice touch, if you could, would be to animate the fare box My Computer specs are in my profile

Mike--Is it a controlled animated wiper from the interior? That is, are they animated all the time, or can they be switched off as seen from the passenger view? If the Duwag-5s have both controlled wipers and doors from the passenger view, that is something to phone home about!Aloha, Jeff Link

Jeff, When in the #5 passenger view you can see the doors open & close by using the P key. Also the wipers on or off using the V key.The author is: Autor: Ralf Riemer
Email: RalfRiemer@web.deI downloaded these trams about 10/28/03. I posted pictures at the time, but not much response from anybody. This author now has several models at this time. Try this site for the Trams.http://www.tramsimulator.net/ My Computer specs are in my profile

This would indeed be worth looking into. Any ideas how it was done, and where does one find this car?The farebox is just a textured simple shape. Animating would demand more polys, and it's already reaching the point wheere I have to say "enough". I am looking to complete these cars, so that I can move on to the next project(s). Once Chuck and I have the cabviews and engine files done to satisfaction, I'm uploading these puppies. Timtimmuir@wcn.net

Tim,WOW! Keep up the good work! Do you post on the TrolleysCA Yahoo group anymore? I haven't seen you on there in a long time. You should send pictures of your Hollywood cars to some of the guys there...they'd really go bonkers if they saw all this! There is also another group on Yahoo, called appropriately enough....PEry. Real die hard Pacific Electric fans there. In fact, I just got a ton of new pictures of the Arrowhead Line a couple of days ago from a guy on the PEry group. These were pictures taken during the last run of the water train up to Arrowhead Springs! Chris Tobar

Chris,Thanks! Actually, I haven't posted on either yahoo group for a long time, but should, I know. I just have to make the time, I guess. Congratulations on your recieving a ton of Arrowhead pictures! I too got a ton of Hollywood pix from Jim Walker, from out of the blue, and it is to him I owe a debt of gratitude for making the Hollywoods authentic inside and out.Timtimmuir@wcn.net

RE: Another one joins the parade. Pacific Electric.....

Tim,I just saw your post to TrolleysCA. I don't know if anyone there has MSTS, but if so I'm sure they'll be very interested in your work with the Hollywood cars! Here is one of the new pictures I just got from Richard Wilkens. Apparently, the Arrowhead Line did not disappear into history as quietly I thought! In fact, it looks like the last run of the water train stirred up quite a commotion! This picture was taken on Mountain View Avenue, circa 1960. The camera is looking north, toward the San Bernardino Mountains. I know this was somewhere along Mountain View Avenue, but we're not sure exactly how far north or south. The trolley wire is long gone (it had been taken down in about 1942) and now there is only one lonely little diesel locomotive and a single tank car Pacific Electric had leased from Southern Pacific. It really was the end of an era.Chris

So Chris, does this mean the Arrowhead Line will be back in progress?I wish someone who knows the PE and all it's lines, would build one of them. I am very interested in the Venice Shortline, or any of those that ran to and along the beaches. It would be a daunting task, no doubt.Timtimmuir@wcn.net

RE: Another one joins the parade. Pacific Electric.....

Tim,I can't promise anything, but I did open up the Route Editor and I was poking around on Mountain View Ave a little today. The thing is that I've really got my hands full with the Electric Avene park project right now. I've been going to meetings almost every night for the past three weeks. All the attention the project has been getting lately (and me! I was in the newspaper a few times!) is really great, but I think it's starting to catch up with me. Between all this and school, I'm already starting to feel a little overwhelmed and worn out...and I'm too young for that! So, as for when I'll be able to work on the "digital" counterpart of the Arrowhead Line again, I'm not really sure at this point. I wish I could be more active on this board. When I do get a chance to really pick it up again and make serious progress on the route, I will let you know. Chris T.
