To say goodbye one last time to the Redbirds, I propose that someone, anyone, model/repaint the final consist. From the lead end, the car numbers were as follows: 9564 9565 9309* 9582 9583 9584 9585 9617 9616 9587 9586 *This denotes R33WF car. This was a single unit (double ended) that was used on the 7 line to make 11 car trains. They did not have A/C and retained their fans right up to the very end. THE MODEL IN THE FILE LIBRARY IS FOR R36WF AND NOT R33WF. MODIFICATION IS NECCESSARY FOR THE PROTOTYPICAL 11 CAR TRAIN. On the driver's side of car 9564 and opposite the driver's side of 9585 were signs depicting the cars in all their paint schemes. Car 9587 was still in US Open livery. Car 9689 also wore this livery: this picture may help repainters. For one last time, we bid adieu to these cars that served for 40 years on the greatest railroad in the world.

Some of those links don't work. If someone would like to modify the R36WF in the library into a R33WF, I'd be happy to paint on the various banners and the proper numbers they wore on the final day. Tim Frost NVTA Subway routes for BVE: The Union Atlantic Railroad: Your stuff's important!
It is Frederick Dreany's intention and desire to do the World's Fair livery as a derivative of our model, but unfortunately he recently had a major computer failure and that project will be delayed.Aloha, Jeff Link Island Electric - West
If you are to make new skins of this model, I request that you fix the font on the number board. If you compare the two pictures below... They're not the same font. But, besides that, they're excellent models and I support Interborough that you create these skins in memory of the Redbirds. They've been loyal in their service commuting us from home to work/school as quickly as possible, but, as many say, they're time has come. It's a sense of personal loss to all railfans. Click on this link and scroll down, you'll be able to browze through these pictures by car number. http://www.nycsubway.org/cars/r3336wf.htmlMTA Going your way for 100 years. 1904-2004
Hmmm....Boy you guys sure are nit-pickers! But I am the same way. If there is no font in my font library to match, I'll go searching the web for one. But 9 times out of ten, I end up modifiying an existing font after typing them onto the bitmap, in PSP. Can you work with TGATool and PSP? Maybe you ought to try your hand at painting a skin, and font-modifying is a good place to start.I started this way about a year or so ago. I hope Fred gets his 'puter back - he's one of the best graphic artists we have. Timtimmuir@wcn.net

Thanks Tim You'll have to forgive subway buffs for being nit-pickers. Subway riders are up close and personal with their subway cars and know them inside and out like no other kind of rail enthusiast. In fact for many New York families, the subway car IS the family car. We knew when we built these RXX series cars that we would be making them for a very demanding audience and from the reaction, it looks like we did a fairly decent job. Unfortunately, I'm now between computers (or sidetracked) as my previous unit has without warning, bitten the dust. A lot of data on the computer was lost (a lesson for all to back up anything you don't want to lose...NOW) including the font for the subway car number boards that someone kindly sent to me. If that person reads this, you can resend that font to my Island Electric partner, Jeff Link at linkj@aloha.com and we'll hold on to it for future use. Many thanks to all of you who have enjoyed our subway equipment for your comments and enthusiasm. It's our hope that you "ain't seen nuthin' yet". Cheers!Frederick Dreany Island Electric, East
Oh, I forgive 'em. Like I said in my post, I'm the same way, and it was this insane need for the right details, that drove me to develope my skills in TSM and PSP, rather than to rely on others to make them available. Being that some of the more obscure traction equipment was what I was wanting also spurred me on. Fred, I hope you can get back in the game soon. I got a glimpse of IE's latest project. WOW! This is your best yet! Timtimmuir@wcn.net
