The boxmotor is an all-new model, one of two the RR owned for light freight-hauling duties. Both models come with all-new custom cabviews by Bill Hall while considerable work is being done by the rest of the crew at Port City Car Company to bring these and other Mesaba cars to MSTS. Those are very nice, but I'd like to see the steeplecab Interborough and I are patiently anticipating first. How's it coming?MTA Going your way for 100 years. 1904-2004

Thunderbolt3985, the NYCTA #6 and #7 are coming along just fine. Thank you for your patience. We're in the process of testing and refining the cab view. This is an interim pix of the cab under development.
Coming Soon:New Mesaba Boxmotor and Coach – image 12The creative process sometimes undergoes a "vacation", and the folks involved tend to drift from project to project, as the energy develops. There was a strong spurt of energy recently on the Mesaba project, which has been under development for about a year, and the drive to finish and upload just took over. We're close, but in the last 24 hours, we found out about the roof color, so it's being adjusted. We're proud of how this project turned out.Rest assured, the NYCTA project is coming along just fine. We need info on the spec of the actual locos, maybe you can help. What schedule of air brake equipment is installed on the prototype? Do you think you can come up with a photo of the cab layout? Otherwise, we're just guessing.

The cab looks great, looks just like what a Transit Authority steeplecab should look like! Unless tryagin didn't show you this page...

it's all I could find. The only specific information on subway equipment I found was on an R36 Worlds' Fair subway car. Bet the braking system was built by WABCO.MTA Going your way for 100 years. 1904-2004

Hey Tim and Chuck, beautiful work! Absolutely superb! Would that folks knew what it takes to get a model to this point of perfection, especially in such a short time. The cab view is incredible. The traction world is blessed to have you two talented artisans turning out these masterpieces.Aloha, Jeff Link

RE: Coming Soon:New Mesaba Boxmotor and Coach

Thanks Jeff. To set the record straight, the cab view is the work of Bill Hall. Amazingly, we find a picture of a cab, e-mail it to Bill, and in a couple of weeks, this sort of thing pops up in our Inboxes. It's just like Christmas, opening up e-mail from Bill.

RE: Coming Soon:New Mesaba Boxmotor and Coach

Aloha Jeff! And thanks for your kind comments. They are very much appreciated by myself and the crew. Chuck is absolutely right about Bill Hall's cabview work. When I first laid eyes on it, I just about -you know-, and sat there for fifteen minutes just admiring it. I got the feeling that I was sitting there in the cab, and wished to the msts gods that I could turn my head all around and see the rest of the cab! Combined with Chuck's excellent sounds, I feel like I'm riding inside the cab now, not just looking at my bare cab interior walls. The Mesaba's Cabview is every bit as good, and lends great realism to operating within the msts environs. I only wish I knew of Bill sooner! With all appreciation and best wishes,Timtimmuir@wcn.net
