G'day to you, Paul! You haven't posted in a while, and Sniper mentioned Traction is dying, so I want to ask, do you have an update on your subway route? You mentioned in a couple of posts you made the mistake of assuming the subway tunnels were brick-lined like in London, so perhaps a few subway fans like Interborough and I can answer some questions you have (if you have any) about the NYC Subway. I ran Chris Cykco's Chicago El Route and it was a good example of using his "CYKWORKS Track Pack 1." New York's El is very similar in design to the Chicago El, so I recommend using it for your route (It looks cool but it gives the frames a hard time, but there's nothing that a visit to the Advanced Settings page won't fix )

RE: Paging pdaa, paging pdaa!

I'm still at it! I'm currently finishing some track sections for sharp radius tracks, 35m to 60m radius, complete with points and some additional items such as NYCTA style bumper posts, and some special length straights to allow me to continue with corona yard. I'm also pondering how to build a working car wash!I've been heavily involved at work, so sim time has been down to about an hour a week, plus had to upgrade the PC!I'll be posting the track sections soon, as I've currently got a non-standard tsection.dat (which includes my own track sections), but they'll be included in the standard one by the time I issue them.I like the look of the Island Electric "A" division "R" stock, and must give them a try. When I've made some significant progress I'll post some more pictures. I'm thinking of issueing the route as a trial from Times Square to Hunters Point, i.e. the underground section so people can get the feel of it, but I want to get all the "7" trackage laid first and include it. This is where I get my biggest problem, what type of structure goes alongside the route! I'll have to do some more surfing!!!Anyway back to the track sections,Paul

Well, looks like you've been working hard at it! Yes, Island Electric's IRT stock are excellent eye candy, but the sound is aliased to the Series 2000... It sounds so Japanese! There are some excellent pics on the Flushing Line at http://www.nycrail.com/index.html , look in the IRT section. Have you tried Boso View Express? Play it! There's a (7) Line available for it by the NYCTA BVE Authority! BVE (Just dodge the Japanese Language Install notices and click on "Get BVE 2.5.3," some of it is typed in English and you should get the idea of where to click)- http://mackoy.cool.ne.jp/
NYCTA Transit Authority- http://copper.takiweb.com/~ntwrkguy/bvesite/ Yes, you should release a trial version! Trial versions are good! Chris Cykco released a sort of trial with his Chicago El. It's fun, even if it's not complete!

RE: Paging pdaa, paging pdaa!

Thunderbolt3985 is correct in recommending a look at BVE. The latest install is entirely in English and the IRT route from Flatbush to 42nd street and the shuttle route run on the new version and the No.7 line which is complete does as well. Although it may be a bit primitive in a way, the No. 7 line for BVE is a major accomplishment. The subway and its environment can be a very intimidating challenge to anyone attempting to model it. Pictures of NYC subway tunnels and cars are abundant on the web if one has the patience and time to search. All the best in your endeavors as our Island Electric models are looking for a home.Frederick Dreany
