As a change of pace from Flag Stops, our next project is a Telephone Booth. This was used both to communicate with the dispatcher by the crew, and also as a registry station of train movements on branch lines.
This particular one was used by the Southern Pacific from New Orleans to Portland. They were made of concrete, and were in use until perhaps 10 years ago. The radio has made them obsolete.
Booths for the same purpose were used by the MP and others, and one used on the MP's electric line will be coming up in a month or so.
Here are a couple of photos, and look for the structure to be available in the Library in a day or so.
Another product from Port City Car Co.

RE: Telephone Booth

LAST EDITED ON Jun-19-03 AT 11:54 PM (EDT)

Thank you, Dick.
It only took Nels overnight to put the file in the library. In fact, I uploaded it about 1 AM yesterday, and it was in the library after lunch the same day.
The photography is by Tim Muir, and Chuck Zeiler. Both experts!!
Paul.
