I'm doing a long section of track that runs down the middle of a street -- not traction but class I freight sunk into the concrete. I don't know how to make it look right and I'm figuring the problems been solved a long time ago by somebody in this forum. Is there a solution?TIA.Dave Nelson

RE: Street tracks

Dave
Where I've seen this done it seems to involve laying down your track then setting the road on top of it and raising the street til just the rail heads are visible.
Takes a little doing but it can be doneGary S

RE: Street tracks

Hi Dave, Darryl, and others,Yes, that's exactly how you can do it. Place your tracks first, then lay the road over the track and raise it until just the top of the rails are visible. If you need to, you can also hold down the shift key as you press the up or down arrow and this will allow smaller adjustments. As far as I can tell, the road will not have any effect on how the trains actualy run on that track, so you don't need to worry about make it too precise. Also, the good thing is that once you raise the road, all the road pieces on your street will connect at that level, so you only need to do it once for any particular street. You might have to play with it a little bit to make it look the way you want, especially if you have a hilly or rough terrain to work with, but it will turn out okay. I'm working on a trolley route which runs mostly on private right-of-way, but also runs in a street and this is how I was able to build that.
