To all Boston fans:I've been very busy with school and stuff lately (you know how it goes), but today I did manage to get a little work done on the Green Line route. Basically, what's holding back progress at this point is that I need to install all of the El sections as I'm going along - otherwise, if I continue on and put in curves, stations, etc, they might be in the wrong place once I put in the elevated structures. I had already put in basic models of the first stretch of elevated coming out of Lechmere, but next came the viaduct. Once I modeled the viaduct sections and placed the proper number of them, I would be able to locate Science Park station and the following curves.I finally had some spare hours to spend in Gmax, so I put together the basic viaduct straight section shown here. I have to build a couple variations for the beginning and end pieces, and also for the drawbridge in the middle, but for now I'm using these pieces as placeholders so that trackwork can continue. All of the different viaduct sections will be the same length, so I can just replace them once I complete the variations. After placing the entire length of the viaduct, next will be Science Park station. Though it seems complicated, it looks to be just a bunch of box-shapes attached together, so I'll see how the modeling goes. One of these days I should also build some platforms, shelters, etc for Lechmere. As the screens show, I've already added a few details to the surrounding area. The route is still set to take a very very long time to complete...but I'm hoping it'll go faster once I get past North Station into the tunnel. Of course I picked the part of the line requiring the most custom shapes to be made...but I guess Lechmere is the most logical starting point. When I make any more progress, I'll be sure to announce it.Alex StroshaneGreen Line Progress – image 2

RE: Green Line Progress

But wait! There's more...I got another chance to work on the viaducts today, and I managed to make the two end-pieces with the distinctive towers dated "1910". While I still have to make two more sections - one for the drawbridge, and one for the transition to the elevated structure - I have the right number of sections in place, so I can now build and locate Science Park station. The curves after that will be tricky, requiring some curved El sections, but once I'm past that and heading around the curve at North Station, I'll be able to just fly along. Hopefully I'll be able to get some more interior and texturing work done on the Boeing too.AlexGreen Line Progress – image 6
