Dave, I'm currently working on painting the 101 and 102 that Matt has made from the 10. You had previously stated that the boxmotors were wood-sheathed. Does that include the ends too? And were the road numbers painted only on the left side of the dasher as with the passenger motors? I have a couple photos of the interiors of boxmotors from other routes ( Mt.Hood Ry. & Power Co., New Jersey Public Service) and both appear to be painted white on the inside walls and ceilings. Would this be acceptable? Thanks, Tim
Here's a pic of the side so far: The lettering is a little too stretched, due to the compression of the bmp. I tried to adjust it with PSP, but it became to illedgible.Tim
RE: Mesaba Boxmotors 101-102 Question for Dave......
The only known picture of a Mesaba box motor shows wood on all exterior surfaces. This same picture shows it to be double-ended, and does not show any lettering or numbering at all, so I suppose that doing it the way you have it would be proper. The inside should probably be a dark green, as that's what I've seen at several trolley museums in the past. Other specs are almost identical to the passenger motors, such as 240hp etc.
