As it's been a few weeks, I thought I'd upload some new shots and report on progress.I've solved some problems I had with different versions of the R17, so I now have all three in one livery.R17NMI - Passenger internal view, no working doors.
R17NMN - No internal view, working doors.
R17NMR - Internal view in back cab, working doors.Repainting these into the other liveries should not be a problem, and I intend to issue them in the other liveries as detailed in an earlier post. The first of the R21/22s has now been made, but it's still in the wrong livery.R17 passes an R21 painted in the incorrect livery!NYCTA progress - First R21 delivered – image 2NYCTA progress - First R21 delivered – image 3NYCTA progress - First R21 delivered – image 4Route, trains etc to be released as one. These are great! Nice to have some NYCTA rolling stock. There's just one thing missing though. The LOCAL and EXPRESS indicator lights to the outside of the top marker lights.

RE: NYCTA progress - First R21 delivered

I considered putting them on and decided not to!Unfortunately, with the restrictions on train-sim models, they would have to be put on as Bright or half bright objects. As such it would mean trebling the number of models required! Each needing it's own shape file. (One with express, one with local and one with none lit for all the intermediate cars). I took the decision to leave them off as the shape would push up the polygon count by at least 40 for what is only going to be seen on 1/10th of the cars in the train.Unfortunately there is a trade off between keeping the polygon count low and missing items from the model!Paul

RE: NYCTA progress - First R21 delivered

Would it not be possible to put the light(s), with a dark lens, into the models, and then just use light statements in the .ENG file to illuminate them as appropriate? You might then need several .ENG files but they could all reference the same shape file.David Beach.Palouse & LewistonNYCTA progress - First R21 delivered – image 9Route Building 1% Completed

RE: NYCTA progress - First R21 delivered

Understood! Maybe you could just add the texture to it. While it would'nt be functional, it still would give it a more accurate look to it. I've rode many times on the Subway when those lights were'nt working! I'm also going to try a few experiments on what David sugguests by using Alpha Channels in th lettering, it may be possible to use a dim lighting setting in the .ENG to place behind the texture that will only show though the lettering. I'll let you know What I find out.

NYCTA progress - First R21 delivered – image 10 This is not the J-train. This is a special excursion train for ticket holders only. Next stop Alabama Avenue, stand clear of the doors.
