I've just uploaded to my web site, a semi-final version of the Mesaba Electric route. Warning, this is an 84MB download. If you have a fast connection, please give the route a run, and let me know of any problems at the email in the readme. DO read the readme as it explains a lot of things. It took me about 45 minutes to upload, but downloads are usually faster. Here's the link: http://206.103.49.193/msts/mesaba.zip As soon as I can get some feedback, I'll chop up the route and upload it here for dialups. I forgot to include the car in the original zip. It's at: http://206.103.49.193/msts/me10.zip
RE: Need trolley nuts with fast download capability
I tried to download this program. However, it transferred at only 10 percent (8 kbs) of the capability of my connection. After 3 hours, and only 65 meg downloaded, I finally had to quit. I cannot help but wonder if your modem which transfers the data is limited to 55 kbs. If you want to let us load this program with any speed, you might want to find a FTP server which will allow me to download this at a proper speed. I normally download from Train Sim at 100 - 150 kbps, and should not have to wait more than 15 minutes to download your mesaba.zip. Please find a different method of transferring protocol. Good luck, and I am looking forward to getting the route.Eddie
RE: Need trolley nuts with fast download capability
Eddie, I think the problem was that too many people saw the message at the same time, and all tried to download at once. That server is on a T3 line, so it's not bandwidth. Most of my website of 22,000 photos also resides on that server, and I did notice that looking at those pages was extremely slowafter I posted the message about the route. I did mention in the original post that it only took me 45 minutes to upload that 84MB, and downloading is usually faster than uploading. You might want to try again "after the rush."
RE: Need trolley nuts with fast download capability
Very very slow 1-4kb second on a cable modem connection usually good 150kb. Suggest you limit number of users at any one time as it estimated 23 hours to complete.
