I'm working on creating a powered flat car in Gmax. Well, I've got it pretty much done, need to do pivot points and such, and a bit of animation. What I was wondering is, is there a tutorial on the web (that doesn't need downloaded) that will give me a kind of idea how to do this? I've gotten the basics of Gmax so far, so I just need the export capablity and a few questions answered. Once I get the thing in the sim, I'll post a pic or two

RE: Powered flat car

The tutorial is pretty good. But, I'm getting most of my information from a book in the Visual Quickstart Guide Series, called 3D Studio Max 3. I've found that, other than rendering, practically everything is the same. With my three volume set, _Cars Of the Pacific Electric_, I've got most of the information I need if I can master the tool even a little bit.I've just mounted the offset cab onto the platform of what will become one of the 1531 class Pacific Electric work motors. These were Old PE numbers 30-53, blt. 1902-1903. They practically built the Pacific Electric. I'm going to spend a little time fabbing up some odds and ends like stake pockets, Crouse-Hinds headlights, Type B trucks and such so that I build an inventory of parts.I'm also swapping off work on this to work on a route and I've got plenty of rice bowl work to do as well. So nobody hold your breath.Member, SP MSTS
