what's with the people saying what they're going to be?

okay, don't flame me, i'm only a kid, too. but still, what's with every kid here going "so-and-so, future engineer on whatever railroad? yes, it's nice to have your dreams of becoming an engineer, but still..., there's only so much of it you can take.

RE: Pittsburgh Trolleys

If you live on the Drake line, there is no way you are close to Conway. Conway is North hills and Drake is south hills.I used to ride the old line from Brentwood into town when I was a little tyke. We were living in Whitehall at the time. I have taken the streetcar from Library many times to downtown also. My folks still live in South Park Township, Library area.Kevin Arceneaux

the lower line of the map is the Library line,
the Upper two are the South Hills Village and Drake lines,
Higher are the Beachview line, the now out-of-service "Overbrook line", the Allentown line, downtown stops and Penn Park branch.

RE: Pittsburgh Trolleys

I lived in Pittsburgh all my life. Rode those PCC cars many many times. They are currently rebuilding one of the old lines about 100 yards from my house for the new light rail vehicles. What used to be a plywood shack with a bench underneath at the car stop will now be quite an elaborate concrete structure. There is a website somewhere, unfortunately I don't know what it is and can't seem to find it now, about the Fineview line here in Pittsburgh. This line climbed the hills north of the city. The site has some breathtaking shots of tracks on steep and narrow streets. If some of those scenes could be reproduced in MSTS that would really be something.Growing up we pulled some really stupid stunts. On snowy days we would try to hang on the back of the trolley and slide along behind it. We would constantly put stuff on the tracks. There was a very high trestle crossing a valley, it was a single track and there was no place to walk except on the rails and ties. I actually walked across that thing once. Boy we were stupid kids.Frank Burgoon

I was in Pittsburgh only once, on a CERA Inspection Trip, on February 26, 1966. The PAT ran the M-454 for us.Winhurst St.
