RE: new MBTA PCC

Fantastic Matt:You did it, and Boston fans are going to be ecstatic over this beauty of an MSTS model. Like an expensive "N" guage model, this one will be easy to sneak into the house but the price is right and retired railfans like myself really appreciate that. This PCC will surely inspire other Boston PCC fans to build layouts or "routes" for this one, emulating the "Green Line" or the Mattapan-Ashmont line or perhaps some others that only exist in memory at this time. Thank you Matt. You've made my day and I know there are many others around the country (I'm in Orlando) who are fans of boston traction who feel the same way.

RE: new MBTA PCC

Matt,The roof monitor/lefty door version is just what I've been waiting for...every variant of an MBTA/MTA/BERy PCC will be on its way to the file library ASAP! I do have your authorization to upload, right..?When I put together repainted versions, I'll also include my modified .eng file, unless your new version includes a better one. In mine, I changed the power and (especially) brake settings so that you can let up on the brakes and start accelerating almost instantly. Almost zero reservoir-recharging time. Cut the throttle once desired speed is reached, then to stop, just gently apply brakes. It drives almost like a car!I also added the remaining lights, although maybe you took care of that already. Anyway, I'm almost done building the ramp up the the elevated from Lechmere, so the next order of business will be extending the track along the viaduct to Science Park, and working on station models. Screenshots (especially with the new PCC model) will come soon!Alex StroshaneNew MBTA PCC – image 4

RE: new MBTA PCC

Once I saw that the green line was under construction, I figured this car was a must. I made the UV maps so that your existing paint schemes should need almost no updating for this car. I could use help with the .eng, I haven't had time to mess with that myself. I encourage anyone to modify this car, just make sure to credit me for the model design.Matt

RE: new MBTA PCC

As promised, I've already begun painting this model in some different variations of the MBTA scheme.First I just modified Matt's included texture to match a photo I had of the real 3232 in Mattapan-Ashmont service from the mid-'90s. These cars had been rebuilt in the late-'70s with new doors, among other things. For this texture, I just resized the door windows slightly to be correct, added a black stripe below the windows, resized the 'T' logos, and made sure all details were correct.Next came 3189, which is painted in the original Green Line scheme, the one that was applied after the 'T' logos had been slapped onto cars in the orange scheme. This was before any modifications were made to the cars, and what's interesting is that the doors were painted completely green. Makes the car stand out from one in a more modern Green Line paint scheme. These shots show the two cars at Lechmere on my Green Line route. Unfortunately, I'm still trying to upgrade my computer enough to get the textures to display sharply instead of being blurred (only thing I can figure is, it's a RAM issue), so the quality is not great. But they sure start to capture the spirit of the MBTA, don't they?Matt, what would we do without you? The PCC model works perfectly. I'll email you my modified .eng file for you to look over. I finished the lights (although the new model has some extra taillights, I see) and replaced the brake controller stats with those from the Series 7000. Runs pretty nice. I plan on improving the sounds also when I get a chance.Alex StroshaneNew MBTA PCC – image 5
