I posted this question in the route forum but I thought you "trolley" guys might be experts on this. There are a lot of high voltage transmission lines in the vicinity of a power plant such as The Dalles Dam. I have already started placing the "power towers". My question is how can I show the wires strung between these towers? Visibility is not an issue. There are several places where the wires should be visible, even in MSTS. Cal Rasmussen Beaverton, ORColumbia Gorge Route (The Dalles Dam 90% done)
Hi Cal,The only experience I had was stringing span wires on my PT route. I did it in TSM building the poles and span-wires as one object . Are you using your own TSM-built power-towers? If so, you can string your wires in TSM in the 3D environment, if you know their relation to one another in the route. But it's very tricky. Wayne Campbell has considerable experience stringing overhead and has even devised a program to do so. Maybe he can give you some pointers. Good Luck!Tim
There has been some discussion on this over in the route forum and the consensus seems to be that it is extremely difficult to do. I have just put in about 30-40 high voltage towers and poles in the vicinity of The Dalles Dam and it is going to be way too much work to try to attach wires. As I said in the route forum, maybe we can all agree to imagine the wires are there! Cal Rasmussen Beaverton, ORColumbia Gorge Route (The Dalles Dam 90% done)
That works for me! We have to imagine passengers around the trains, engineer and fireman in the cabs, and more. So, I don't think it's beyond most folks to imagine some wires over there. You've got more important things to do!!!Tim
