MCT V1 Problems – image 2

For those of you who have downloaded it, you will have noticed that on Malin Bridge, towards the end, an error about a missing sms file appears. Does anyone know how to fix this?Cheers

RE: MCT V1 Problems

My best guess on the missing .sms (Sound Management System) file message would be that a Sound Source (water, bird sounds, frogs, someting like that) was place near the bridge, but was not included in the uploaded zip file. I'm sorry, but I have not yet downloaded the MCT route. I'm attempting to clear up space on my hard drive. So this is just a guess.

RE: MCT V1 Problems

Hi,While trying to reproduce this error, I got an other one, Trainworld initialization failure. This is caused that in your .trk, envfiles are called with J1 preface, but the installme.bat copies env files from the Template folder without any preface.
OK, I hacked the trk file and the route loaded, but be aware of this error.Dick van den HovenMCT V1 Problems – image 3

RE: MCT V1 Problems

Dick, I had the same initialization failure message. Could you please explain your solution in a little more detail.I was able to go through the route in the RE, and the only sound files I was able to locate were the Concrete Bridge and Concrete Supported sound region markers, located at the ends of the bridge in question. These files should be available in the global Sound folder of MSTS.The only other thing I can think of is maybe a crossing.sms file is needed as there are crossing markers placed where the rails leave the highway. Until I can drive the route, I can only guess.

Hi,Yes, of course. When you open the .trk file, you will find a bunch of .env files. All these files have the prefix J1 eg J1sun.env
The installme.bat file copies the .env files from the Template folder and these files doesn't have any prefix. So in this example sun.env
So remove all the J1 prefixes or copy all the files including subfolder from the Envfiles folder of the Japan1 route. When driving along that bridge, MSTS freezes so I can get that far.
But I also got into the RE and above a tunnel at -1.8985920 54.4028390, I got an error cannot find sms file: without mentioning any sms file.MCT V1 Problems – image 4This message appears about 3 times.Update, I found the error.
On the bridge there are sound regions placed. Concrete Bridge and Concrete supported. These files are mentioned in the ttype.dat. But when you look in the ttype.dat of the route, you will see that that ttype.dat is from USA1 and no Concrete Bridge or Concrete Supported. When you look into the ttype.dat of Japan2, you will find Concrete Bridge and Concrete Supported.
So copy ttype.dat from Japan2 over the existing ttype.datDick van den HovenMCT V1 Problems – image 5

RE: MCT V1 Problems

Thanks Dick, once I got the route working, I drove it from either end to zero in on the area. From there, I looked around in the RE until I saw the car barn. At the car barn, there are four orange markers, file name LOKSCHLT.S, that (I guess) open the car barn doors. I deleted those four markers, and now no longer get the "failed to find sms file" message. I didn't change anything else, so I guess the route looks for the Concrete*** files in the global Sound folder.

Hi,Thanks Chuck. Now I know what is missing. That CarBarn doors work like a levelcrossing. But when you have a levelcrossing, you need a crossing.sms in the Sound folder. Try to copy a crossing.sms of one of the default routes into the Sound folder.Dick van den HovenMCT V1 Problems – image 7

RE: MCT V1 Problems

What a great idea using crossing animation for the barn doors. Who thinks up these things? I think I might be borrowing that idea for one of my projects.Wayne

Hi,Ryan, the Envfiles are not the only problem.
The ttype.dat is an other problem
And the missing crossing.sms is a problem too.And why saying in the readme to copy some files if you have an installme.bat file that can do this task? And after all the work Chuck and I have done to solve your problems, a "Thank you" will be appropriate, IMHO. I must say this is very dissapointing.
You came with a message about a missing .sms file. Chuck and I have sorted out why you got that message and the only thing you can do is bickering about the .env files. Dick van den HovenMCT V1 Problems – image 9
