Hi all here.I'm doing the GM&O route in Springfield, Ill. I'm also adding the ITRR.Those who are familiar with ITRR know of it's electric capabilities.I do have the track laid in the Springfield area with cantinary poles...but I'm curious what to use for the wire....has anyone done this in a route with other non-electrified railroads? I don't want overhead wires on all routes I mean...just the ITRR. Can this be done?Also...I need some prototype ITRR equipment to run as A1 trains. Are there any takers?...It's a free route..and I've put alot into it...and have alot more to add...I'm trying to make it as railroady as I can...Thanks to anyone for any help..Paul

I can't help with a source for your ITRR equipment. I will leave it to others who may know. But I think I can answer your question on overhead wire. The problem of mixing steam and electric railroads is one many of us run into. Here is the problem:In order to run electric trains, you need to set your entire route to electric. If you have an electric route, all track, including steam track, will have wire hanging over it.There is only one possible solution that I know. Make your route electric, but set the wire height to 1000m. This makes it invisible throughout your route. In fact, you can go in to the advance display options tab and disable 'wire' so the computer doesn't spend any time on it. Your electric routes have gantries and spans etc, but the wire is invisible. This doesn't look too bad and may be an acceptable solution for you.If you really want the wire, you will have some challenges. You need to use a 3D modeling program to build your own wire pieces and position them over the track. Positioning the wire accurately over the track is the hard part. There is a tutorial at http://www.railpage.org.au/steam4me/trainsim/tutorials/perfect.htm that may give you some clues to determining the exact coordinates of the track and placing the wire accurately.I hope this helps on the overhead wire question. RE: I know it's strange I post here..but I have a quest

Hi Paul, there is one Illinois Terminal car available in the Train-sim.com Library. The file name is ohrr_po3.zip. It is an unpowered parlor observation trailer. I'll look into powering it to stand-in until the powered cars are available.
I know it's strange I post here..but I have a question – image 1To be available soon, an Illinois Terminal Sleeper car. Again, unpowered. And again, I can look into powering it as a stand-in until we get to making the powered car. Neither car, however, had trolley poles, instead they picked up power from bus jumper cables connected to the powered car or locomotive.
I know it's strange I post here..but I have a question – image 2If you can't wait for the powered car, may I suggest the M&NA doodlebug, available in the Library, file name mna_db01.zipI know it's strange I post here..but I have a question – image 3

RE: I know it's strange I post here..but I have a quest

WOW..thanks Chuck...I don't need too many ITRR items...but a couple of electrified freight locos and an electric I.T. passenger loco (both set up as diesels in the .eng) and a Passenger car set will be great one day. Maybe someone here would like to take that on...thanks for filling in the gap for now..BTW..Is that your route your building? I like it...

RE: I know it's strange I post here..but I have a quest

According to the book "Lincoln Land Traction", the final electric passenger service took place on March 3, 1956, although PCC suburban service continued between St. Louis and Granite City for a couple more years, until June 21, 1958.I went ahead and "dieselized" the Parlor Observation car, mostly to see if I could do it. If you want it, let me know. I'll have to send it to the shops for some modifications (pilot, headlight, sound).I know it's strange I post here..but I have a question – image 4

Paul
What time frame are you setting your route in?
I'm not 100% sure but if it's in the late 40's to early 50's or beyond
IT may have already given up the ghost on passenger service and dieselized
try these linkswww.illinois-terminal.org/
look under "the plat" for route maps & historywww.rr-fallenflags.org/Hope these can help

Hi Chicago Great Western..(one of my favorite railroads BTW)It's looking more and more like ITRR dieselized before the era I'm building 1960 to 1972....so it looks like I'll be painting up a couple of Geep's...unless someone elso knows otherwise.
Thanks all for your help here...

Paul
Check the file library under early hood diesels or search "ITC" or "Illinois Terminal"
I DL'd a Geep some time back(though it's the newer 70's scare stripe livery) and I saw a switcher posted about the same time
hope this helps
