As I look at the specs for some of the L&PS rolling stock that I am modeling, I see the term: height of car - top of rail to trolley board - 13' In order to properly scale the drawing I need to determine what the 13' is measured to. These cars have pantograph pickups, so right away I am confused by the word 'trolley'. Does anyone know what a trolley board is?
Hi Wayne,How's it going? Looks like I get to field this one.The Trolley Board is the platform on the roof of the car where the trolley pole base, or in your case, the pantograph is mounted. You know. Hope this answers your question.Best regards,Tim
Thanks so much Tim. Your description makes sense. Its going very well here - about 5km of L&PS route detailed. The last bit has been slow. It took me about 8 hours to detail the last 200m of route. The next 400m is not going to be easy either as the L&PS tracks pass right through the middle of a Wabash engine terminal - so not knowing anything about steam, I have to model a roundhouse, coal tower, sand tower and all that other grimy stuff. At least when I am done it will be interesting to motor past this area maybe with a couple of steam locomotives puffing around nearby.I'll update you with some screenphotos once I am done. Thanks again for the info.Wayne.
