Hello,I am new to playing around in the sound files or any msts file for that matter. I tried to change a horn from one locomotive (SD40-2) to another (Dash 9). Of course it failed miserably, because I am so ignorant. Would somebody please guide me a little as to what I am doing wrong? I really appreciate your help.KL5a

If you want to use the Dash9 horn, say, in an SD40-2 you go into the Dash9 sound file and look for two entries: D9_horn1.wav and x_D9_horn1.wav. Copy those 2 files to another place where you can edit the names. Now, look in the SD40-2 sound folder for these files: sd402_horn1 and x_sd402_horn1. Now, if you want your sd402 to have the Dash9 horns, delete the 2 sd402 horn files and, in the folder you placed the 2 D9 horn files, rename them like this: d9_horn1 becomes sd402_horn1 and x_d9_horn1 becomes x_sd402_horn1. Then place the renamed sd402 horn files back into your sd402 sound folder. It's that easy. You now have the d9 horn without having to change the .eng file. If you want a sd402 horn for the Dash 9, just do the reverse.
Open the SMS file and edit the filename for the horn. The path to the Dash-9's horn is:../../DASH9/SOUND/D9_HORN1.wav(Internal)../../DASH9/SOUND/X_D9_HORN1.wav(External)"The F59PHI and Genesis are the lamest excuses for locomotives Amtrak has ever operated - accept it and move on. Hug an F40 before it's too late!"
