Hi All,
I built a very basic activity departing Great Falls and heading for Sweetgrass for the Sweetgrass route that involved 5 cons with engines parked in the Great falls yard. As I'm motoring through with my drivable I noticed that when I pass through the yard I loose my external sounds and horn and the carriage rattles etc.I've still got the internal cab sounds, in fact, the only way I get the external sounds back is by blowing the horn inside the cab then quickly switching to external view.
It's as though there is too many sound sources for the computer to calculate. If I remove the locos and leave behind the rolling stock on it's own I don't have any problems. Is this typical? Thanks for any advice on this one,
By the way Happy New Year to everyone from downunder.Rob Kenning

>Rob Kenning It sounds like you have exceeded the sound limit when you go into the yard, so it shuts down some sounds. Here is a link to a site that addresses that very problem: http://www.railpage.org.au/steam4me/trainsim/tutorials/fix_sound.htmlIt worked for me to get more of my sounds to work, maybe it will for you. Just remember to back up your files like it tells you.

Happy Rails,
Chaz

RE: Lost Sound!

Chaz,Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, it didn't work. I tried various figures on that line e.g. 100,200,300,400. I still lost all external sound from my consist but the placed consists worked fine. I wonder if it's got anything to do with the sound fall off setting?
I'll keep plugging away and see what happens. If you have the Sweetgrass Route maybe you could try setting up a scenario where you run between five sets of locos in the Great Falls Yard, each side of running track and see if you loose sound.Cheers,
Rob
