Whistle and horn sounds relative to other sounds? – image 1

I just got a new computer. Was running MSTS on Win 2K Pro and now on Win XP, on a machine with much improved specs. MSTS runs beautifully on this machine, frame rates in the 50s at times, and haven't yet seen less than 25. But... whistles and horns sound subdued compared to other sounds. I tried decreasing the ambient sounds the the MSTS Sound Options page but that did not work.Any ideas on what I should try? Thanks in advance for any help you might provide.
