I probably can't provide enough information for an informed answer, but here goes.I downloaded some wolf sounds from the internet in the form of WAV files. They played just fine outside of Train Simulator. I then borrowed an sms file (also wolf) from Train-Sim and changed the wav file reference to mine. I then added the appropriate line to ssource. Both of the wolf sounds that I set up this way, when placed on my route, are distorted, with the sounds sounding more like screaming lions or people.Any ideas on what I might try? They are presently set at scalability group 3 and volume 2. (I'm new at sounds.) Don
Don: Your description sounds like they have not been converted to the MSTS format. To check, right click on the .wav file, the click on properties. The MSTS format is:Audio Format: PCM Average Data: 22.50Kb/second Sample Rate: 11.25kHz Audio Sample: 16 Bit Channels: 1 ( Mono ) or 2 ( Stereo )If you have to convert them, right click the .wav file then click on RECORD. When the Recorder comes up, click on SAVEAS. Down at the bottom you will see a box CHANGE, click it. Click the quality of sound you want, radio, phone, cd,etc. Then open the next window, find the correct values. click them. Then ok & save your way out using the same or different file name.Using volume levels over 1.0 will default volume to 1.0.Cyndi
Thanks. You know your stuff. I had downloaded the sound tutorial a little bit ago, and read about this stuff, and just completed the change to 11.025 16 bit, leaving PCM alone. It had been PCM 22.050 8 bit mono. I just tested in RE, and it seems to be just great. I appreciate your response. Thanks too for the tip on volume levels. Even with Windows XP, I had to search for Sound Recorder, but now have a desktop shortcut for it. I really look forward to these sounds.Don
