Hello:I don't know how you really do to make the .SMS files. I want to add my own sounds to my route, and I have to edit another .SMS file to insert my own sounds. The result is unpleasent: The sound appears very noisy and distorted. Is there any utility to make .SMS files properly? or any tutorial to edit them manually?I'd really like to know that...Regards...

RE: Is there any tutorial or utility to make .SMS files
Eduardo: I am not aware of any tutorials on writing your own .sms file. The best thing to do at this point is to modify the .sms file. Two things to keep in mind; At the beginning of the file is the line Streams ( ## ), This defines the total number of streams in the file. If you add or delete any individual streams, The total number of streams has to be changed accordingly. If you are using your own sounds they probaly are not in MSTS format, which is:Audio Format PCM AverageData 22.50Kb/second SampleRate 11.25kHz AudioSample 16 bit Channels 1 (mono) or 2 (stereo)To check your .wav files, right click on it and choose Properties, then choose the Summary tab to display the format. If the file is not in MSTS format, Right click the file and choose Record. This will open MS Sound Recorder. Click on File then SaveAs. When the window pops up look down at the bottom and click on change. You can then pick the quality you want and then scroll thru the list for the proper settings. Hope this helps get you started.Cyndi

Cyndi:Thank you very much for this great help!. Yes, my problem was in my .wav files format. I didn't know about the MSTS format; but now I changed it and my sounds are played smooth and clear, with good quality. Now I have to keep on start playing a little, to get used to the .SMS files codes and triggers.I'm happy for learning this...and to insert my own sounds. Thanks again
RE: Is there any tutorial or utility to make .SMS files
Cyndi:Once again I want to thank you for teaching me the secret about the MSTS sound format and streams. My wish was to hear bagpipes in Scotland's landscapes. But I'm also happy because it's my first upload to this site's libraries; I uploaded my file and it's available as scotbag1.zip,That's just a simple thing, but it's the beginning.I wish you the best...

Eduardo: I listened to your upload, excellent work. Unfortunately the sound of bagpipes are a little out of place in the mountains of Montana & Wyoming. Hope to see more from you in the future.Cyndi
