RE: By The Horns

Each loco has a *.eng file. Open this up with WORDPAD and search for "sound." This will give you the command line for the location of the *eng.sms and *cab.sms files, which control the sound for that particular loco. Now find the folder that contains the *.sms files. Open the .sms files and search for "horn." This will tell where the horn wav file is. Now either rename your file to match that wav file and drop it in the proper folder, overwriting the original, or change the command line in the *.sms to point to your custom sound (make sur its a wav). Note--any loco that also uses that particular .sms file will also be changed to the horn unless you writer a specific .sms for each horn you want to use, then plug them into erach specific loco *.eng file. Good luck!

NALW sets all sounds up in a common.snd folder. You copy the horn wav files into the horns folder and then edit the sms files to point to the horns you want to use. There are 3 references in each sms file that need to be editied. Save the sms file with a different name and then you can edit the eng files to use the sms file with the horns you want to use.Kevin Arceneaux
